In Ordos' Jungar Banner, there is a towering centuries-old Chinese pine, hailed as the "King of Chinese pines". It grew naturally from a seed in the 3rd year of the reign of Emperor Yingzong in the Northern Song Dynasty (1089). It is 26 meters tall and 1.34 meters in girth. As a living fossil of the Ordos Plateau, the tree provides valuable references for studies on the evolution of Ordos' forest, vegetation, climate, hydrology and geology.
