Baotou hosts sports festival

A series of sports activities to mark sporting activities started in Baotou, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on June 19, attracting the participation of the city’s sports lovers, according to local media.

More than 1,000 participants from Baotou gathered at the Baotou Olympic Center for the events.

Wang Zhen, the gold medallist in the 20-kilometer race walk at the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympics, and Shi Dongpeng, a national track and field athlete, took the lead in a 5-km run.

A display of Mongolian costumes and a tai chi performance were also held on the day.
