The modern Yueju Opera piece Mother of Ten Thousand Babies was staged in Fuzhou, Fujian province, on July 18. The production is based on the life story of Lin Qiaozhi (1901-83), the legendary Chinese obstetrician and gynecologist.
Born in Fujian’s Gulangyu, Lin made great contributions to modern Chinese gynecology and oncology and had delivered over 50,000 babies throughout her medical career.
