Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) is harnessing its strong transportation network to become a key domestic and international hub. The accelerated development of an integrated "water, land, and air" transportation network is fueling significant growth in the region.

Over the past five years, the zone's transportation infrastructure has undergone substantial improvements. The network now boasts four highways, three expressways, one national road, and four provincial roads, with a total road length extending to 1,343 kilometers.

A highlight of this development is the newly operational Metro Line 16, celebrated for its scenic views of the Yangtze River. The line stretches 37.3 kilometers and includes 14 stations. Each spring, it offers passengers a picturesque journey through fields of blooming rapeseed flowers.

In July, WEDZ Port achieved a milestone with the departure of theCheguvessel, which carried 304 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of automotive parts and medical supplies to Nagoya, Japan. This voyage marked the launch of the port's first direct shipping route to Japan and South Korea.

Meanwhile, the region's aerial connectivity is also advancing. Wuhan Hannan Airport now hosts over 10 airlines and offers short-haul passenger routes to cities such as Shiyan and Jingzhou.

The airport has developed eight real-world applications in areas such as short-distance transport, low-altitude logistics, and aerial tours.
