How do I book park or museum tickets in China?

Not all parks or museums in China require reservations, but many popular ones do implement a real-name booking system. Admission may be free, but reservations are often necessary due to visitor number limits for safety reasons.

Typically, you need to book at least one day in advance, though some parks and museums release tickets up to seven days ahead. Reservations are usually made online.

Booking platforms include:
The official website of the park or museum;
their WeChat mini-programs or official apps; and
third party platforms (e.g. travel or ticketing apps), but be sure to verify their credibility.

Some special events or exhibitions within the park or museums may require separate reservations in addition to general admission.

For foreign visitors, a passport number is required during the online booking process. You must also bring the original valid ID (usually your passport) used for booking for on-site check-in.
