Agreements were signed on June 26 to establish 22 major projects in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), totaling 15 billion yuan ($2.09 billion).

These projects span new energy, intelligent connected vehicles, smart equipment, and community commerce.

Among the highlights is the establishment of Xiaoya Technology's headquarters, a collaborative effort between iFlytek and Central China Normal University. This venture aims to introduce Xiaoya's intelligent teaching platform to 3,500 higher education institutions nationwide.

Other standout initiatives include the Gree Digital Commerce project, which will introduce a cutting-edge digital marketing technology platform, and the Commercial Street project, which is designed to showcase cultural and creative spaces, community leisure areas, and urban vitality districts, featuring exhibition halls, cultural markets, parks, and community spaces.

WEDZ has achieved significant advancements in new energy and intelligent connected vehicles, positioning itself in areas such as large-scale models, software, and chips, while promoting localized parts to streamline industrial operations.

The zone has also established a 50 billion yuan Industrial Development Fund to support enterprises in establishing operations, expanding their market reach, and driving growth.

Eric Lemaire, CEO of the Asia-Pacific region at French automotive group Effi, and Stephen Saxby, chairman of Research and Development at Cummins East Asia, expressed their optimism for the development prospects within WEDZ through video presentations.
