Founded in 2011, United Imaging is a Shanghai-based enterprise which develops and produces advanced medical products, digital healthcare solutions, and intelligent solutions that cover the entire process of imaging diagnosis and treatment.
The company is the producer of China's first ultra-high-field preclinical MRI scanner, the uMR 9.4T.
As early as 2013, the company set up a research and development center at Biolake in East Lake High-tech Development Zone-- also known as Optics Valley of China. In 2017, it announced that it would build its Wuhan headquarters in the Optics Valley.
With an investment of 5 billion yuan ($760 million) , the first phase of the Wuhan headquarters officially opened in November 2020.
When full operations begin, the Wuhan facility will be the biggest R&D, production and operational center for United Imaging's high-end medical equipment.
It is estimated that in five years' time, 3,000 people will work in the complex, which will cover an area of 117,000 square meters. By 2028, localized production and sales of high-end medical equipment will be realized, with estimated annual revenues of 10 billion yuan.
