Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zone, the earliest national-level economic and technological development zone in western China, was set up in 1993 with the approval of the State Council.The zone is surrounded by mountains on three sides and is near the Yangtze River. It has formed a three-way relationship with Liangjiang New Area and Chongqing High-tech Zone to promote the development of Chongqing's export-oriented economy. The zone takes electronic information, modern services and high-end equipment manufacturing as its three leading industries, and has initially formed a good industrial foundation.It has attracted noted companies including the top 10 mobile phone brands in China - VIVO, more than 100 mobile phone industry chain supporting enterprises, more than 10 national and ministerial (provincial) scientific research institutions, and six national technology platforms.The zone has planned China's second oil and gas transaction platform -- the Chongqing Petroleum and Gas Exchange. It also boasts opening-up platforms such as the Yinglong Business District and a bonded logistics center.The zone has developed big data industry greatly in recent years and became home to several national-level platforms including the West China Branch of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.In the future, Chongqing Economic and Technological Development Zone will focus on building a green industry system based on the construction of the Guangyang Bay Zhichuang Eco-city, transforming a batch of traditional industries with intelligent technology as well as energy-saving and environmental protection technology, and cultivating high-quality green industries to reap economic and ecological benefits.It will take the Chongqing Software Park as the core, build the core elements of big data industrial system relying on new generation technologies such as artificial intelligence, intelligent terminal, intelligent manufacturing and internet of things, and accelerate the deep integration of the internet, big data and artificial intelligence with the real economy.The zone will give full play to the advantages of Chongqing East Railway Station as a transportation hub, focus on developing cultural exchanges, information services, exhibition economy and commerce, and build an international business center.It will also actively develop biomedicine, medical devices, health services, and other businesses, and build a characteristic medicare industrial chain covering headquarters, R&D, commerce and healthcare services.
