The Chongqing Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone was one of the first 27 national-level high-tech zones, a national innovation demonstration zone and part of China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone. It was approved by the State Council as a national-level high-tech industrial development zone in March 1991.
Located in the middle of Chongqing, the zone has a planned area of 74.3 square kilometers. It has formed a good industrial base, gained strong technical forces and built up excellent supporting facilities.
The zone is laying out and constructing five high-speed railroads, three intercity railroads and five municipal railroads, which will provide direct access to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou in six hours and to Chengdu in 40 minutes.
Four key industries lead the way, namely the new generation of information technology, life and health, and the green and low-carbon industry, as well as high-tech services.
The zone has gathered a large number of famous enterprises from home and abroad, including IBM, Siemens, Intel, Schneider, Huawei, and Baidu.
The zone has been following the global cutting-edge industrial development trend. It is currently committed to upgrading its four leading industries and cultivating a new engine for high-quality development in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
