The Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA), also called Beijing E-Town, is the only national-level economic-technological development area in Beijing and an important window for reform and opening up in the capital city.
It was approved by the State Council as a national-level economic-technological development area in August 1994.
The BDA is located in southeast Beijing. To its east lies the Beijing sub-city center and to its south is the Xiongan New Area. It is located in the critical industrial corridor between Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei and spans the rail link between Beijing Capital International Airport and Beijing Daxing International Airport.
Four key industries lead the way in the BDA - next-generation IT, high-end automobiles and new-energy vehicles, biotech, health and wellness, as well as robotics and smart manufacturing.
The area brings together more than 26,000 corporations from over 40 countries and regions with total investment exceeding $100 billion.
Mercedes Benz, GE, Bayer and over 90 Fortune 500 companies have invested in more than 130 projects in the area.
