Shanxi swimmer claims bronze at Asian Games 2026

Yang Chang, a swimmer from Shanxi province, clinched bronze in the women's 50m breaststroke at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan on Sept 20. 

In the morning's preliminary heats, Yang clocked 30.56 seconds to secure third place and a spot in the finals. In the decisive race, she executed a crisp start and maintained a smooth stroke throughout, ultimately earning her third place on the podium with a time of 30.24 seconds.

Yang Chang has consistently demonstrated strong competitiveness on both domestic and international stages, reaching the semifinals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The following year, she won the women's 100m and 50m breaststroke at the National Swimming Championships and secured silver medals in the same events at the 15th National Games of China.

Yang is set to compete for a medal in the women's 100m breaststroke on Sept 23, aiming to add another accolade to her impressive career.
