Overseas Chinese media tour kicks off in Xinzhou

The "Overseas Chinese Media Xinzhou Tour" commenced at the Yunzhong River Scenic Area in Xinzhou, Shanxi province, on Sept 16. The event focuses on Xinzhou's three major cultural and tourism brands: the Yellow River, the Great Wall, and the Taihang Mountains.

Heads, journalists, and editors from overseas Chinese media, along with domestic mainstream media reporters, will conduct in-depth explorations of ecological protection, cultural-tourism integration, and rural vitalization in the city.

Xinzhou, a historical crossroads of agrarian and nomadic civilizations, is rich in intangible cultural heritage. Its profound history has fostered a wealth of cultural expressions, with a particular emphasis on distinctive carving techniques. These range from large-scale crafts serving ancient architecture to intricate folk art, embodying the essence of northern Shanxi's folk culture.

The city now aims to establish itself as a hub for new energy, a renowned destination for cultural tourism and wellness, and the "Capital of Coarse Cereals in China", focusing on promoting energy transition, cultural-tourism integration, specialized agriculture, and coordinated urban-rural development.

Gao Jin, president of the Overseas Chinese Newspaper of Europe, said overseas Chinese media will continue to highlight and report on these developments, allowing the world to see a true, multidimensional, and comprehensive China through their lens, while also feeling the dynamic pulse of China's growth.

Other participating overseas Chinese media include the American World Culture Press, Germany's European New Overseas Chinese Network, and the Italian Chinese News Network. The media delegation will conduct a seven-day joint interview tour throughout Xinzhou.
