The Yongle Palace Mural Art Week kicked off at the Yongle Palace in Ruicheng county, Shanxi province, on Sept 15. This event aims to create a national platform for mural art exchange and foster a hub of culture and art, charting a new chapter in cultural heritage innovation and the integration of culture and tourism in Ruicheng.

A centerpiece of the art week is the "Exhibition of Reproductions of Ancient Chinese Masterpiece Murals", which opened simultaneously. This exhibition is the first nationwide collaboration of the top three mural treasures: Yongle Palace, Dunhuang, and Fahai Temple.

It features over 170 meticulously reproduced works from the Yongle Palace Mural Conservation and Research Institute, Dunhuang Academy, and Beijing Fahai Temple Cultural Heritage Management Office, as well as pieces by students from leading art institutions.

The event also seeks to extend the cultural chain and broaden its reach. Highlights include a fan meet-and-greet with the creators of the Yongle Palace-inspired dance drama Yongle Weiyang and the Yongle Palace IP licensing activities, enhancing the influence of local original art brands.

Yongle Palace is one of China's largest and most well-preserved Daoist temple complexes.  Recognized as a key cultural relic, it houses over 1,000 square meters of murals, the most comprehensive collection of Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) Daoist art in existence.

Ruicheng plans to use the art week as an opportunity to gather national artistic resources, continuously improve its cultural industry framework, and transform Yongle Palace into a national benchmark for mural art preservation, artistic creation, and the fusion of cultural tourism.
