When reality meets the artist’s eye, something new takes shape.
Passing the Torch Through the Brush: An Exhibition of Figurative Oil Paintings at the He Xiangning Art Museum in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, brings together five leading contemporary figurative painters: Yang Feiyun, Zhang Linong, Zhang Yibo, Zhu Chunlin and Chang Lei, alongside Fragrant Hills in the Autumn Season by prominent oil painter Dai Ze (1922–2023).
Beyond depicting what we see, figurative painting captures how artists observe, interpret and reshape the world.
