Coal-rich Shanxi province hopes to expand international cooperation in the green and low-carbon sectors and jointly cultivate new quality productive forces in the energy field, said Tang Dengjie, secretary of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, at an international roundtable on Sept 3, a prelude to the Taiyuan Energy Low Carbon Development Forum (TELC) held on Sept 4 and 5.

The forum aims to exchange cutting-edge ideas on global green and low-carbon energy transition, promote the implementation of advanced technologies and demonstration projects, and contribute to building a global energy community.
Tang emphasized China and Shanxi's significant achievements in the energy transition over the past decade at the roundtable. He said that energy security and climate change are common challenges humanity must face together. Accelerating green and low-carbon energy development presents a shared opportunity for countries worldwide.
He expressed a sincere hope to use the forum as a pivotal opportunity to deepen high-level dialogues and align with global development initiatives, gathering more practical, feasible, and replicable green solutions through mutual learning and exchange.
The event was also attended by Shanxi Governor Lu Dongliang and diplomats from various countries and leaders of relevant international and regional organizations.
International delegates praised Shanxi's progress in energy transition and green development. They unanimously agreed to utilize the forum's dialogue mechanism to deepen technological exchange and project cooperation, jointly advancing global green and low-carbon energy development, and creating a cleaner, more beautiful world.
