What happens when a pianist trained in jazz takes on the dazzling world of Liszt?
Kirill Gerstein, one of today’s most versatile pianists, will bring his distinctive blend of virtuosity, imagination and musical intelligence to Shenzhen on Sept 26. A former jazz student at Berklee, he later became an acclaimed classical pianist, winning the Arthur Rubinstein Competition and Gilmore Artist Award. His Liszt program moves from Petrarch’s poetry to the monumental Dante Sonata and Piano Sonata in B Minor.
