Q: I'm from Vietnam. I heard I can enter Hainan province without a visa for 30 days. Can I just book a flight and go there for a vacation?

A: Yes, absolutely! For a 30-day holiday or business trip in Hainan province, just book your flight and enjoy.

As long as you hold an ordinary passport, you can:

•Enter Hainan province directly through any of its open ports including Haikou and Sanya.

•Stay for up to 30 days within the administrative area of Hainan province.

•Engage in tourism, business activities, family visits, medical treatment, participation in exhibitions, attendance at sporting events and other non-work or non-study reasons — no visa required.

However, please note that you must enter and exit through Hainan province — you cannot travel from Hainan province to other parts of the Chinese mainland without a separate visa.

If your purpose is work, study, or journalism or other activities requiring prior approval, you still need to apply for the correct visa before coming to China.
