Tradition or individuality? In the art world of the late Ming (1368-1644) and early Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, two artistic paths met on the same sheets of paper: one rooted in tradition, the other seeking a more personal voice and emotion.

An exhibition at the Art Gallery of Nanjing Museum in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, brings paintings from both approaches together, inviting visitors to savor their subtle aesthetic differences.
