A delegation led by Lashinka Dammullage, consul general of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou, visited Fujian from Aug 3 to 8. They held discussions with provincial and municipal departments and industry associations to expand cooperation in trade, tourism, tea, and gemstones.
Li Lin, director-general of the Fujian Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, met with Dammullage on Aug 6 in Fuzhou. Li briefed the delegation on the province's economic and social development. He said that Fujian would use the visit as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with Sri Lanka through trade platforms and closer exchanges.
Dammullage said the trip was her first official visit to Fujian since taking on her role as consul general and expressed hope for greater cooperation between Sri Lanka and the province.
She added that the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou would help connect Sri Lankan government agencies, business groups, and tourism organizations with counterparts in Fujian. She also invited Fujian to participate in a major international expo to be held in Sri Lanka in January 2027 and explore new cooperation opportunities.
