The 11th National Energy Storage Science and Technology Conference and the 2026 Carbon Future Forum opened on Aug 6 in Ordos city, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

It brought together leading experts, scholars, and industry professionals from around the world for academic exchange, technology collaboration, and commercialization of research achievements, providing new momentum for the high-quality development of China’s energy storage industry and the transformation of Ordos' energy sector.

The conference features 11 thematic forums and the 6th Young Scientists Forum on Energy Storage and Carbon Future, covering cutting-edge fields, focusing on innovative areas such as advanced batteries, physical energy storage, hydrogen energy, carbon materials, carbon catalysis, and carbon capture, utilization, and storage.

A technology exhibition, poster sessions, and outstanding paper awards were also held during the conference.

Wei Fei, director of the Ordos Laboratory, said the city, as a major energy base in China, is transitioning from traditional energy to green energy.

The permanent establishment of the Carbon Future Forum in Ordos aims to address future challenges in energy catalysis and materials development by advancing carbon technologies, thereby supporting the region's energy transformation.
