US delegates explore ancient Xi'an charm

A youth music delegation from Montgomery County of Maryland, United States, visited the Xi'an Museum and the Grand Tang Mall on Aug 3 during an exchange visit in Xi'an to experience the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture.

At the Xi'an Museum, the delegates followed professional guides to trace the historical evolution of Xi'an, an ancient capital of 13 dynasties. They viewed precious cultural relics up close and delved into the marks of cultural integration along the Silk Road, gaining a deeper understanding of China's long‑standing civilization.

The delegation visited the Grand Tang Mall at night, where Tang-style buildings and street performances recreated the prosperity of Chang'an during the Tang Dynasty's peak (618–907). Dressed in elegant hanfu (traditional Chinese attire), the young delegates wandered along the brightly lit ancient‑style street to savor the unique charm of classical Chinese aesthetics.

International music experts accompanying the delegation said that culture serves as the foundation and source of artistic creation. Xi'an's profound historical heritage and strong traditional‑culture atmosphere offer plentiful material and inspiring ideas for Sino-US youth collaboration in music and artistic fusion.

Xi'an will further deepen friendly exchanges and cooperation with Montgomery County, carry out regular youth exchange programs, and diversify cultural communication approaches, advancing mutual learning between China and the US.
