Launched in 2014 by SMC, the event's convoys have traveled across more than 50 countries and regions and over 200 renowned Silk Road cities in Eurasia over the past 12 years, logging a total mileage exceeding 1 million kilometers. It ranks among China's longest-running, most far-reaching, and highly influential media initiatives themed on the Silk Road.

2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and first African country. As a key tribute to this historical milestone, the event serves as a vital national platform for advancing mutual learning between Chinese and African civilizations.

The media delegation will travel to eight African countries, including Kenya, Ethiopia, and Tanzania, covering a total distance of over 10,000 km, to present a comprehensive image of the continent's diverse charms and the fruitful outcomes of China-Africa cooperation.

Cultural exchange activities will also be held throughout the journey, including a soccer friendly match between Chinese and Kenyan teenagers and a drone light show. Combining youth‑to‑youth dialogue and technology demonstrations, these activities will build bonds between China and Africa.
