Guiyang designated as national tourism hub city

With approval from the State Council, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has issued the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) for Building China into a Tourism Powerhouse, which outlines the layout of tourism cities and specialized tourism destinations. Guiyang has been listed as a tourism hub city under the plan.

Guiyang has ramped up its transportation infrastructure in recent years and has largely completed its transport hub system along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

Guiyang is one of China's top 10 high-speed rail hub cities. With the completion of the Panzhou-Xingyi High-speed Railway in 2025, Guizhou became the first province in Southwest China to achieve full high-speed rail coverage across all its prefecture-level administrative centers. The province's total high-speed rail mileage now reaches 1,906 kilometers, forming a one-to-two-hour travel circle between Guiyang and other cities within the province, and a two-to-five-hour reach to major city clusters such as the Chengdu-Chongqing region and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Major trunk lines, including the Guiyang-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, the Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway, the Chongqing-Guiyang Railway, and the Chengdu-Guiyang High-speed Railway, converge here, offering direct high-speed rail connections to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and beyond.

Three major hub stations, Guiyang Station, Guiyangbei Railway Station, and Guiyangdong Railway Station, are deeply integrated into the national high-speed rail network, accelerating the city's transformation from a regional node to a key transportation hub in Southwest China.

Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, the hub of the province's airport network, handles over 22 million passenger trips annually.

The total length of outbound expressway in Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area has surpassed 700 km, providing direct access via the Shanghai-Kunming and Lanzhou-Haikou expressways to East China, the Chengdu-Chongqing region, and the Greater Bay Area.

Guiyang is accelerating efforts to become a first-class tourism city. Utilizing the strategic advantages of Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport and Guiyangbei Railway Station, the city is integrating key cultural and tourism resources including Colorful Guizhou City, Guizhou Long March Digital Art Memorial (Hongpiaodai), and Qingyun Market to create a comprehensive tourism hub gateway that combines dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment.
