A delegation from the Brazilian state of Ceara visited Fujian from Aug 1 to 5 for a series of cultural and sports activities, celebrating the China-Brazil Year of Culture and the 25th anniversary of friendship between the two regions.
Led by Roseane Medeiros, secretary of International Relations for Ceara, the delegation took part in a friendship concert, an education cooperation signing ceremony, and a youth futsal tournament.
The 25th anniversary concert was held in Fuzhou on Aug 2, featuring performances by artists from Ceara, students from Fujian Vocational College of Arts, and Min Opera performers. Brazilian percussion and flute performances were presented alongside performances featuring traditional Chinese instruments, including the guqin (a seven-stringed Chinese zither), blending Brazilian rhythms with Fujian's melodies.
The delegation visited Fujian Vocational College of Arts on Aug 3, where the college signed a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceara (IFCE).
The futsal team from IFCE competed in the 2026 Fujian International Friendship Cities Youth Futsal Tournament, which opened on Aug 4, with the delegation attending the opening ceremony.
During the visit, the delegation toured Fuzhou's Sanfang Qixiang (Three Lanes and Seven Alleys) historic district, Yantai Mountain, and Fuzhou Panda World before heading to Quanzhou for further cultural exchange activities.
