Guiyang has combined urban renewal with refined city governance in recent years, with the renovation of Jiandao Street in Nanming district standing as a prime example.

Located in the heart of the city, the street is surrounded by major landmarks, including Zhucheng Square, Jiaxiu Pavilion, and the Guizhou Nationalities Museum. As one of Guiyang's oldest streets, it has long preserved memories of the historic urban center. However, aging infrastructure and outdated public facilities had gradually diminished its appeal.

To revitalize the neighborhood, the city upgraded underground pipelines, repaired damaged roads, improved public amenities, reorganized street furniture, and installed 12 barrier-free ramps.

"I'd give today's Jiandao Street a score of 100," said resident Li Baoyun. "It has kept the charm of the old street while taking on a fresh new look. We're delighted with the changes, and residents are doing their part to keep the neighborhood beautiful."

Selected storefronts were also given a unified facelift, creating a cleaner, safer, and more attractive streetscape while retaining the street's historic character.

Tea shop owner Zhang Guihua said his old aluminum storefront was replaced free of charge with a safer and more modern design. "The street has been completely transformed, and we're much more confident about doing business here," he said.
