Guiyang selects athletes for provincial games

The 13th Guiyang Para Games and the selection event for the eighth Guizhou Provincial Para Games were held from July 31 to Aug 3 at Guizhou Vocational College of Sports in Guiyang, with outstanding athletes selected to represent the city at the provincial event, which will take place in Qiannan Bouyei and Miao autonomous prefecture this September.

A total of 269 athletes from 11 delegations across Guiyang City and Gui'an New Area competed in this year's event. After four days of competition, 207 medals were awarded, including 93 gold, 70 silver, and 44 bronze.

Fifty athletes also received the Sportsmanship Award, 32 referees were named Outstanding Referees, and all 11 participating delegations were honored with Sportsmanship Awards.

Guiyang will continue to cultivate para sports talent and support outstanding athletes in competing at higher-level events, including the National Para Games. The city also plans to expand free sports and cultural training programs, providing more opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in community sports and recreational activities.
