Make way — a stylish traveler from the Western Jin Dynasty (265-316) is riding in!
This celadon figurine of a Hu rider on a lion is full of personality. The rider sports a tall hat with a rolled, patterned brim, fashionable Western Regions attire, and trendy mesh-patterned shoes, and carries a fan in his right hand, while the fierce lion seems ready to leap into action at any moment.
Unearthed from a Western Jin tomb in Linyi, Shandong province in 2003, the figurine is now housed at the Linyi Museum.
