What was life like for women in China 1,000 years ago? The answer lies in the new exhibition Beyond the Inner Chambers: The Various Lives of Women in the Song and Jin Dynasties at the Nanyue King Museum in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. Artifacts, chorographic compilations, epitaphs, and paintings provide delicate revelation of the diverse roles, experiences, and voices of women in the Song (960-1279) and Jurchen Jin (1115-1234) periods.
