UNESCO experts conduct field evaluation of Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark

UNESCO experts conducted a field evaluation at Taimu Mountain in Ningde, Fujian province, on July 21 as part of the reassessment of Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark, focusing on efforts in geological heritage protection, ecological conservation, science education, tourism integration, and sustainable development.

As a core area of the geopark, Taimu Mountain is known for its distinctive granite peak landscape and is a representative geological heritage site along China's southeastern coast.

During the field visit, the expert team followed the UNESCO Global Geopark field inspection guidelines to assess key geological and cultural sites, including Couple Peak and Guoxing Temple. The team carried out on-site assessments, recording observations and gathering information on geological heritage protection, ecological management, science education programs, and tourism development.

The team also visited Luxueya White Tea's manor, a partner of Ningde UNESCO Global Geopark, to assess efforts to preserve local tea culture and develop tourism around the area's natural and cultural resources. The visit highlighted the integration of geological heritage protection with local tea traditions.
