China's general public budget revenue sees increase in H1

China's general public budget revenue — the sum of tax revenue and non-tax revenue — rose 4.7 percent year-on-year to about 12.1 trillion yuan ($1.79 trillion) in the first half of this year, the Ministry of Finance said on Wednesday.

Tax revenue, which accounts for the bulk of fiscal revenue, climbed 5.3 percent to nearly 9.79 trillion yuan, while non-tax revenue increased 2.3 percent to some 2.32 trillion yuan, according to the ministry.

On the spending side, the country's general public budget expenditure climbed 1.5 percent year-on-year to 14.33 trillion yuan during the first six months of the year.

Social security and employment spending rose 7.6 percent year-on-year to 2.64 trillion yuan, while science and technology expenditure increased 1.3 percent to 485.4 billion yuan.
