The unveiling ceremony of the Penang-Shaanxi Friendship Association was held in Penang, Malaysia, on July 14, opening a new chapter for deeper exchanges and collaboration between the two sides in the years ahead.
Teh Lai Heng, State Assemblyman in Penang State Legislative Assembly, said that Malaysia and China have long maintained friendly relations, and exchanges at the local level serve as a vital bridge for mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries. The establishment of the association stands as a major achievement reflecting the deepening exchanges between the two regions, marking a new milestone in their friendship.
As a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, Penang attaches great importance to cultural heritage preservation, educational advancement, and international exchanges. Shaanxi is a key cradle of Chinese civilization and the starting point of the ancient Silk Road. It boasts rich resources in education, science, technology, and innovation.
Though thousands of miles apart, both regions attach great importance to cultural exchanges, talent cultivation, and international cooperation, creating broad prospects for future collaboration in a diverse range of fields, including education, youth exchanges, and cultural promotion.
The association will foster deeper exchanges between the people of the two regions in the future, engage more young people, educational institutions, enterprises and social organizations in such events, and build closer and longer-term cooperative ties between Penang and Shaanxi.
