Hohhot launches airline to Lhasa

Hohhot Airport launched its daily round-trip flight connecting Hohhot, Zhengzhou, and Lhasa on July 15, meaning Hohhot has now achieved year-round air connectivity with all high-altitude provincial capitals across China.

Operated by an Airbus A319, the daily service (Flight EU2759/EU2760) has a capacity of 140 passengers per flight. The outbound flight departs Hohhot at 10:40 am and arrives in Lhasa at 5:15 pm, while the return flight leaves Lhasa at 4:00 pm and touches down in Hohhot at 10:05 pm.

Previously, constrained by Lhasa's extreme altitude, limited airspace resources, and complex routing requirements, the Xizang capital had remained the only provincial-level city without regular air service from Hohhot – a persistent gap in the airport's route network. The new service breaks through these geographic and logistical barriers, filling the long-standing lack of fixed civil aviation links between Hohhot and the Xizang region.

The route will cut travel times and costs for passengers, enabling the culture of the Chilechuan Grassland and Inner Mongolia's distinctive resources to reach wider markets, while bringing Xizang's unique heritage and plateau landscapes closer to travelers from Inner Mongolia.

This two-way flow of tourism and industry is expected to drive sustained cross-regional economic cooperation and growth.
