The prestigious 2025 State Science and Technology Awards have been announced in Beijing, recognizing 258 projects across three major categories, with Hubei province leading the way with 11 winning projects. Notably, nine companies from Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC) were honored as primary contributors.
The award-winning companies from OVC include industry leaders like YOFC, Accelink, and Daspatial Technology, covering fields such as optical communications, laser manufacturing, urban safety, life health, intelligent detection, and remote sensing satellites.
Several breakthroughs by these companies mark significant progress in their respective fields. For instance, YOFC achieved a groundbreaking advancement by producing ultra-high-purity synthetic quartz tubes for special optical fibers, moving from concept to reality.
Furthermore, the awards highlight the industrialization prowess of OVC enterprises. Daspatial Technology, for example, has applied its innovations to over 30 remote sensing satellites across nine models, effectively bridging the gap between laboratory research and large-scale production.
OVC is now accelerating its development into a world-class science and technology hub. The focus is on building a global beacon for scientific talent, establishing a regional science and finance center, and fostering deep integration of technological and industrial innovation to position Central China as a key player on the global innovation stage.
