Aviation logistics, cross-border trade, and international cooperation projects are flourishing across Xi'an's Airport New City, injecting robust momentum into Shaanxi's development as an inland hub of reform and opening-up.

Airport New City is now home to more than 200 logistics enterprises, fostering diverse industrial ecosystem spanning air cargo, cold chain logistics, and rail-air intermodal transport, and has launched new international all-cargo routes and increased flight frequencies on 10 routes since the end of last year.

Xi'an Xianyang International Airport's cargo throughput reached 143,500 metric tons from January to May this year, up 13.2 percent year-on-year. In 2025, the airport recorded total cargo and mail throughput of 334,800 tons.

An airport representative said, "We will further deepen cooperation with airlines and logistics enterprises, add more international all-cargo flights, upgrade supporting facilities for rail-air intermodal transport, and build the 'Air Silk Road' into a golden channel linking the whole world and empowering industrial development."

The total import and export volume of Xi'an airport reached 110.93 billion yuan ($16.36 billion) in the first five months of this year, surging 1.5 times year-on-year. The Xi'an Comprehensive Bonded Zone posted imports and exports worth 1.58 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 128.6 percent, with exports jumping by 298.6 percent.

Zhang Wei, director of the administrative committee of Airport New City, said, "We will increase the capacity of the international air hub and advance institutional opening-up to establish a new starting point for the 'Air Silk Road', providing a strong impetus for Shaanxi's efforts to develop an inland tech hub of reform and opening-up."
