Rennes sister-city garden opens in Jinan

A new 600-square-meter garden has opened to the public in Jinan, celebrating the sister-city partnership between Jinan and Rennes, France, established in 2002.

Inspired by Rennes' natural landscapes, the garden features a Y-shaped outline. It includes three main areas: a planting display area, an open lawn, and a performance space, combining French garden aesthetics with areas for public recreation.

The planting design blends traditional and contemporary French landscaping styles. Geometrically trimmed boxwood shrubs echo the symmetry of classical French gardens, while naturally growing switchgrass, tall fescue, and meadow sage reflect a more natural planting style.

Designed as both a garden and a community space, the site includes a central lawn and stage for dance, music, and traditional opera performances. A floral wall surrounds the garden, while wooden benches along the pathways offer visitors places to relax.
