Residents of Neihuang county in Henan province enjoyed a wonderful evening on Monday as the 2026 Central Plains Cultural Stage opened with a free performance of the classic Puju Opera Heyang Zhifu (The Magistrate of Heyang) by the Sanmenxia Puju Opera Theatre. Bringing traditional Chinese opera to local communities keeps cultural heritage alive for everyone to enjoy.
Puju Opera, also known as Puzhou Clapper Opera, is a traditional Chinese opera style that originated in southern Shanxi province. Closely related to Qinqiang Opera, it is celebrated for its rich history and distinctive performance traditions.
