Shandong Port Group's (SPG) Qingdao Port has officially established a sister-port relationship with the Port of Hamburg, marking a new milestone in the partnership between two major international shipping hubs.

The agreement comes as the two ports celebrate the 10th anniversary of their strategic cooperation memorandum. Building on a decade of close collaboration, the new relationship will further support dialogue and cooperation in green development, smart port innovation and sustainable growth.

Located at key points along the Asia-Europe supply chain, Qingdao Port and the Port of Hamburg each play a vital role in global trade.

Hamburg Port ranks as Germany's largest port and Europe's third-largest comprehensive port, with extensive connections to markets across Germany, Central and Eastern Europe, and Northern Europe.

Qingdao Port, a major international shipping hub in northern China, serves as a key gateway linking maritime and land routes under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Over the years, the two ports have maintained close cooperation in shipping logistics and trade corridor development, contributing to stable trade flows between China and Germany.

Looking ahead, the two sides will deepen their collaboration in artificial intelligence applications and green port development, working together to advance smarter, greener and more sustainable port operations.

With Hamburg Port joining the network, Qingdao Port now has 41 sister ports across Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas.
