The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area High-Level International Sports Tourism Forum convened at Nansha Yacht Club in Guangzhou on June 22, under the theme "Pooling GBA Strength for Sports-Tourism Symbiosis and a New International People-to-People Exchange Ecology". Aligned with the 2026 APEC China Year, the event has built a top-tier global platform linking government, academia and industry across the region.
The event drew senior government officials, distinguished academics, industry trailblazers and delegates from international organizations, with in-depth discussions focusing on sports-tourism innovation, public health advancement and global cultural exchange.
Speakers noted Nansha will leverage its strategic strengths to build a world-class sports events hub. The 15th National Games, co-hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in 2025, boosted regional tourism consumption by over 10%, showcasing robust sports-tourism synergy.
A landmark cooperation deal was signed between PSG Academy GBA and a local education center, bringing world-class youth football training systems to Nansha to cultivate local sports talent.
Three thematic panels delved into international event cooperation, fitness-centered public health and cultural tourism innovation. Participants reached consensus on advancing cross-sector integration to build an internationally influential “Sports Bay Area”.
The forum will deepen GBA synergy and expand global sports and tourism collaboration, injecting strong momentum into regional high-quality development and international people-to-people bonds.
