At the 2026 Wuhan Talent Development Conference which was held on April 22, it was revealed that over the past five years, more than 27 percent of university graduates and over 35 percent of doctoral graduates have chosen to stay and work in Wuhan.
In 2025 alone, Wuhan attracted 314,000 university graduates, reinforcing its status as a city with a net influx of talent.
Wuhan's innovation sector is thriving, with young researchers increasingly taking on significant roles. These young scientists are pushing the boundaries of technology, from assembling chips at the atomic scale to enhancing memory storage speeds and developing robots.
At the Jiufeng Mountain Laboratory, Zhang Jieqiong leads a team of young researchers, with an average age in their twenties, working on atomic-scale chip assembly. They are pioneering heterogeneous integration bonding technology, which involves assembling chips with different functions and materials. This technology is seen as a critical breakthrough in the "post-Moore era".
From June 14 to 17, the World Youth Development Forum is held in Wuhan for the first time, drawing leaders from international organizations, youth ministers, and young leaders from over 100 countries. With more than 500 young minds collaborating, Wuhan is truly becoming a global hub for youth development.
