A city promotion event for Jinan was held in Madrid, Spain, on June 9, using water as a shared link between the "City of Springs" and the Spanish capital, whose history is also closely tied to water resources.

The event highlighted Jinan's unique spring culture, rich historical heritage, renowned Shandong cuisine, and dynamic urban development. Through videos and presentations, attendees gained insights into how the city integrates its cultural legacy with modern vitality.

Qu Xun, a diplomat at the Chinese Embassy in Spain, said Jinan and Madrid are both open and inclusive cities with strong economic complementarity and significant potential for cooperation. He described the event as an important platform for enhancing mutual understanding and expanding exchanges between the two cities.

Borja Fanjul, president of the Plenary of Madrid City Council, noted the growing exchanges between Spain and China in recent years. He said Madrid and Jinan share common goals in cultural heritage preservation and urban development and expressed hopes for deeper cooperation in a range of fields.

More than 100 representatives from government, business, cultural, and media sectors in China and Spain attended the event.
