Luocheng wild hairy grape wine selected for nationally famous agricultural product list

Luocheng wild hairy grape wine has been designated as a national famous, special, high-quality, and new agricultural product by the Agricultural Product Quality and Safety Center under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

This announcement reflects the wine's evolution from a localized specialty to a product with national significance. Produced in Luocheng Mulam autonomous county in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, this wine benefits from a rich tradition of hairy grape cultivation, which is endemic to this region.

In 2023, the traditional brewing methods specific to Luocheng wild hairy grape wine were formally recognized as part of the region's intangible cultural heritage.

Analytical assessments indicate that the juice yield of hairy grapes ranges between 64 percent and 70 percent. The wine produced exhibits notable attributes such as clarity, rich red color, and a well-rounded flavor profile. Currently, the county cultivates approximately 80,000 mu (5,333 hectares) of hairy grapes, yielding an annual production of about 22,000 tons.

To enhance agricultural productivity and farmer livelihoods, the county has implemented an integrated model comprising "Party branch + cooperatives + farmers". This framework has enabled over 6,500 households engaged in hairy grape cultivation to realize consistent income growth, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the local economy.
