Dongping county's integrated path to prosperity, tourism

Dongping county in Tai'an is witnessing a dynamic surge of high-quality development across various sectors, including project construction sites, agricultural processing plants, industrial towns, and rural vitalization efforts.

Shanglaozhuang village in Dongping, located where the Yellow River, Grand Canal, and Dawen River meet, has abundant water resources. Recently, it introduced an integrated aquaculture model combining lobsters and lotus roots, turning abandoned ponds into valuable assets and paving a new path for rural vitalization.

With its ecological fishery strategy, Dongping has established a nationally recognized demonstration zone for eco-friendly and sustainable aquaculture, significantly transforming the fishery sector.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–25), the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery in the county grew by 5.6 percent, while rural per capita disposable income rose 7.4 percent — both surpassing the city average. The grain planting area has remained stable at around 1.5 million mu (100,000 hectares), further enhancing food security.

New industrialization is a top priority. Dongping is making concerted efforts to develop industries, initiate projects, and provide top-notch services to fuel strong momentum for industrial growth.

In tourism, the county has developed Dasong Everbright City, an integrated day-and-night destination that combines cultural performances, sightseeing, and immersive experiences. This Song Dynasty (960-1279) themed resort integrates Yellow River culture and Taishan Mountain culture, becoming a popular attraction with celebrities and influencers. Featuring parades, fireworks, and a vibrant Song-style bazaar, it has become a favored holiday spot.

Building on its rich cultural heritage and ecological resources, Dongping has deepened the integration of culture and tourism. Centered around Dasong Everbright City as a flagship IP, the county is transitioning from single-point attractions to comprehensive immersive experiences, aiming to establish itself as a renowned cultural and leisure destination both within the province and beyond.
