In the picturesque Liu Sanjie town in Yizhou district of Hechi in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, the orchards of yangmei, also known as the waxberry or Chinese bayberry, have attracted throngs of visitors eager to embrace the joys of rural life, as the yangmei trees reach their peak fruiting season in May.

The hills are alive with lush greenery and branches laden with ripe, purple-black yangmei fruits, bathed in sunlight and emitting a sweet, tangy aroma.

Upon entering the orchard, visitors are welcomed by a verdant canopy of fruit-laden trees. The berries, ranging in color from pink to deep red and purple-black, dangle enticingly, ready to be picked.

Armed with baskets, tourists stroll through the orchard, gently plucking fresh yangmei from the branches. Each berry offers a burst of juicy, sweet-tart flavor that lingers on the palate. Families flock to the orchards, with adults picking the fresh fruits while children play among the trees, creating a tapestry of laughter and joy that embodies a perfect day in the countryside.

"Our yangmei orchard spans over 2 hectares with 500 trees, and this year's yield has been exceptional," said the orchard manager. "Since we opened on May 14, we've welcomed over 200 visitors daily, with even more on weekends. Seeing everyone enjoy themselves brings us great happiness."
