A 24-hour self-service wine dispenser has been rolled out across several popular spots in Yantai, East China's Shandong province, offering a quick and affordable way to enjoy local wine on the go.

Called "Jia Jiu Zhan", the terminals can now be found at Yantai Fisherman's Wharf and Shangshili Pedestrian Street. In less than a minute, users can scan a QR code, make their selection, and walk away with a cup of wine.

The machine features a stock-market-inspired display, with a circular screen showing real-time prices and "trading volumes" for dozens of wines.

"We kept asking how to bring Yantai wine into everyday life," said Liang Jinzhong, chairman of Diboshi Group, the local company behind the idea. "The answer wasn't to lower the price, but to lower the barriers."

For young consumers, small treats matter more than formal settings. "I tried it after dinner by the sea. It cost just over 10 yuan ($1.48) and was so refreshing," said a local resident. "Now I drink wine like I drink bubble tea — easy and fun."

The project aligns with the city's broader push to modernize its wine industry. Yantai plans to install 15 such terminals in key areas this year, with a goal of 100 across China in the future.

"When tourists post photos on social media holding a cup of Yantai wine by the sea, that's the best city branding," said the head of a local winery.
