Culinary delights at TCL CSOT Wuhan Base

The TCL CSOT Wuhan Base, located in the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC), accommodates over 17,000 employees and is the largest and most populous base of TCL CSOT – one of the leading companies in China's semiconductor display industry. The important task of feeding this workforce is managed by six canteens, staffed by more than 300 employees and featuring over 100 food stalls.

Operating five meal sessions a day – including early breakfast, breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night snacks – the canteens maintain a constant supply of hot dishes. Employees working overtime can enjoy discounted dishes for just 1 yuan ($0.15) after 12:40 pm.

"I sometimes work night shifts, and being able to enjoy freshly cooked meals by the chefs in the canteens during the late hours really lifts my spirits," says Li Yue, an administrative customer service manager.

"Each canteen tailors its menu based on the preferences of nearby employees, offering distinct features," explains canteen manager Zhang Dongming. "For instance, canteens near younger employees offer more grilled and fried snacks, while those near older staff members focus on low-fat and healthy meals."

The canteens also host monthly culinary events based on employee feedback. During the Sichuan-themed food festival on April 16, many employees enjoyed delicacies like panda-shaped ice jelly, stinky tofu, spicy chicken skewers, and candied hawthorn balls at the food stalls.

"Upcoming events include a summer crayfish festival and an autumn-winter wellness food festival, bringing regional specialties from across the country to our employees," added Zhang.
