Yu Song, director of the Administrative Committee of Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC), led a delegation to Shenzhen for the 2026 Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) Entrepreneurs Summer Summit (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area) on May 23 and 24.

During the visit, they hosted several tech innovation exchange events, including a Chip and Optical Interconnection Industry Exchange Conference and the Optics Valley Qingtonghui Ultra Optoelectronics Information Industry Special Session.
These activities aimed to boost OVC's high-quality economic growth by promoting its investment environment, strengthening connections with Shenzhen's innovation network, and establishing a collaborative industrial development framework between the two regions.
During the optoelectronics information industry special session, seven Shenzhen startup projects, including an industrial embodied brain and a guide dog robot, were showcased. Platforms like Optics Valley Laboratory and the National Information Optoelectronics Innovation Center, along with over 10 OVC investment institutions, expressed interest in cooperating with promising companies from the Greater Bay Area.

Shenzhen entrepreneurs expressed enthusiasm about OVC's strong optoelectronics industry and vast engineering talent pool. They hope to establish a collaborative model for R&D, pilot testing, and manufacturing between the two regions to expedite mass production.
Yu Song emphasized that OVC is accelerating its development into a world-class science city, industrial cluster, and robust new city. He invited more alumni entrepreneurs from HUST and talented young innovators from the Greater Bay Area to move to and invest in the zone.
