The Guangxi Zongzi Industry Innovation Exhibition and Cultural Exchange Event opened in the Jinchengjiang district of Hechi in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on May 23, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and innovative strides of the region's zongzi industry.
Zongzi, also known as sticky rice dumplings, is a traditional snack eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival. The popularity of Hechi zongzi has also driven the development of a complete zongzi industrial chain.
During the event, unique performances were held to demonstrate local customs and traditions.
A highlight of the event was the Zongzi wrapping competition, featuring team contests among teachers and students, as well as individual contests for citizens, teachers, and students. Participants skillfully demonstrated their techniques in folding leaves, filling rice, adding fillings, and tying zongzi.
The product promotion segment featured a zongzi-themed ethnic costumes show, enhancing the appeal of the showcased products.
The event also included interactive experiences such as dry land dragon boat racing and ethnic sports competitions, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the charm of traditional customs.
The 2026 Guangxi Zongzi Culture and Industry Innovation and Development Exchange was held at Guangxi Modern Polytechnic College.
