Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county is pressing ahead with the development of its featured five local specialty industries, icluding fragrant pig, fragrant cattle, fragrant duck, fragrant rice and fragrant mushrooms, while facilitating the high-quality transformation of traditional agricultural sectors.

Thanks to its unique karst landforms, the county boasts superior growing and breeding conditions. Its local fragrant pigs enjoy national geographical indication protection status thanks to their strong cultural significance. The local fragrant cattle breeding history dates back 500 years, winning Huanjiang the reputation as China's hometown of pasture-fed cattle.

Local authorities continue to optimize the industrial layout and upgrading breeding models. Improved varieties are being promoted to stabilize product quality and raise production efficiency, and major investment projects are being launched to build standardized breeding bases and improve full industrial chain supporting facilities.

Uniform production, processing and sales standards are steadily being rolled out. Up to 28 local farm products have obtained authoritative national quality certifications, greatly lifting brand influence and market recognition.

The booming specialty industries effectively boost rural vitalization and help local residents increase earnings. In 2025, the local silkworm rearing industry achieved cocoon sales revenue of 2.51 billion yuan ($0.35 billion). Local specialty goods sell well across the country, particularly in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Huanjiang continues to integrate agriculture, processing and service sectors. The five featured agricultural industries are fueling rural economic growth across Hechi.
