Guilin launched the 2026 "Smiling Guilin – I Speak for Guilin" civilized tourism campaign on May 8, coinciding with World Smile Day. The initiative aims to promote friendly service across the tourism industry and reinforce Guilin's image as a world-class tourist destination.
During the launch ceremony at the Solitary Beauty Peak scenic area, representatives from local tourism associations, tour guides, and hotels made a commitment to incorporate smiling service into every aspect of visitor reception, including guided tours and hospitality.

Feng Chenyang, a representative from the hotel industry, pointed out that hotels in Guilin are increasingly incorporating intangible cultural heritage experiences and family-friendly activities into daily services. This approach not only offers visitors with fresh experiences but also promotes civilized tourism practices.

The event also featured performances by children in ethnic costumes, classical poetry recitations, and a lively dragon dance by international students from Guilin University of Electronic Technology.
International students from Malaysia, Tajikistan and Laos shared their affection for the city, with one Malaysian student saying, "I love Guilin – the mountains are beautiful and the people are kind. I am willing to be a spokesperson for Guilin and share its beauty and warmth with the world."
