A consortium consisting of Guangzhou Metro Group, France's Systra and two Vietnamese companies has won the bid for the full-process engineering consulting project of a section of the Metro Line 2 of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The contract amount is 712.058 billion VND ($20 million), with a contract period of 82 months. The two Vietnamese companies are Transport Engineering Design Joint Stock Incorporated South and Portcoast Consultant Corporation.

The Ben Thanh to Tham Luong section of Ho Chi Minh City's Metro Line 2 is 11.3 kilometers long, with a total investment of 47.8 trillion VND.

The line includes 11 stations, of which 10 are underground and one elevated.

As a pioneering initiative that first adopts Vietnam's special mechanisms and policies, the project aims to combine the development of transportation infrastructure with the urban space reshaping guided by transit-oriented development.

It is not the first time that Guangzhou Metro has participated in Ho Chi Minh City's Metro Line 2 project. A consortium led by the Guangzhou Metro Design Institute secured the contract for the preparation of the revised feasibility study report, front-end engineering design and procurement services for the line last year.
